No.

Mainly only overlay files (deriving from unionfs-feature) affect
memory usage (unless you use the toram feature of course), so as
long as you don't touch/modify the files it does not hurt.

grml-small works with >=32 MB of RAM, though 128M or more are
recommended of course.
