The buildprocess of grml-live adjusts it on the fly, so nothing to
worry about.

Just execute "dpkg --print-architecture". As a reference:
# dpkg --print-architecture
i386
vs.
# dpkg --print-architecture
amd64
Regarding the kernel check the CONFIG_X86_64 option:
# zgrep CONFIG_X86_64 /proc/config.gz
CONFIG_X86_64=y
