Regarding the default one, i would choose fluxbox or wm-ng (probably wm-ng as it 
has some desktop icons). Btw. current default wm is openbox.

I would like to keep awesome, it has a sane default config and is imho pretty 
useful per default. The rest can be removed imho :)
